Our ancrestor Lord Wolfgang von Graben (1465-1521)
Our ancrestor Lord Wolfgang von Graben (1465-1521)

The family alleged descendant from the Meinhardiner, a dynasty of dukes, imperial princes and counts of the Holy Roman Empire.

The meaning of our family name is allready clear. The name roots back to the Austrian noble family Von Graben (bastards of the Meinhardiner). During the middleage the german word Graben meant Graeff in the Netherlands. The family coat of arms shows the spade and the whole crest of the Von Graben.

The first mentioning of our family name is in the Netherlands in the late 15th century. The fate of the Graeff families in the centuries thereafter is a true picture of the political changes in the Netherlands, Austria, South Africa, and also from the alleged line as well as in Germany, the United States of North America, New Zealand, Hungary/Jugoslawia and in South Africa.
